Online Private Teaching

from £50.00

Want to get support with your creative and technical development of your artistic practice in glass but you don’t live near my studio? I offer online private tuition, which takes place from my studio, to where ever you are in the world! This is a personalised, one-to-one service where I can help you with a whole range of glass, artistic and creative aspects.

Some of the things I can help you with include:

  • Learning a glass making technique. Whether you are completely new glass making, or have been making for years and need support, I can help with a wide range of techniques and processes for lampworking, furnace glassblowing, coldworking and blow mould making.

  • Technical support to bring your project to life. After setting up two home studios, and running glass workshops in a university for years, I have extensive technical knowledge of various equipment buying, installation, use and upkeep. Setting up your own glass workshop can be scary and intimidating, but I am here to support you, and break down the information into bite size chunks and manageable steps towards achieving your dream creative space.

  • Providing advice and support for setting up and maintaining your own glass workshop. Already have your dream space, but not quite sure what the weekly, monthly and yearly upkeep should look like to keep it running smoothly and most importantly safely? This is something I can help you with! From informal plans to maintenance schedule writing all based around you, your studio, and how you use it!

  • Grant writing, award and exhibition applications mentorship. I have successfully been granted several high profile awards, bursaries and grants, and mentored artists who have been successful in their applications. In addition, I have also been on judging panels for such awards, and have a close understanding of what makes a stand out application.

Pricing

Online teaching is delivered by the hour. The cost is £50/hr. Get 10% off when you buy 5 hours. The hours can be be used separately across several sessions, or grouped to allow us ample time to get into more involved processes or mentorship for grant writing etc.

How It Works

Online teaching is hosted on Zoom. If your session is for learning new techniques or processes, or troubleshooting your making, I will set up my camera and computer at my workbench. For making along side each other, and trouble shooting your techniques, it can be helpful if you also are able to be at your workbench, or can record some video in advance. This will allow me to give specific feedback on how to improve your making. I use a professional, high definition camera with didymium filter for capturing lampworking processes in clear detail. Zoom sessions will be recorded if you choose, and you will be sent an online link to view them for one month from the session, giving you time to revisit the information and video
