Studio Rental
Rent Torch Time
Already a lampworker, or have completed an introduction to lampworking class at the studio or elsewhere? You can rent torch time at the studio to create your own work! Situated just 45 minutes from London, Laura Quinn Design Studio offers access to lampworking torches, kilns and coldworking equipment at an affordable rate. Most importantly, when you come to the studio you know you will be safe. With Laura’s experience and training as a university glass technician and tutor, and 13 years as a lampworker, she ensures that the studio is clean, tidy, has fitted ventilation specifically for lampworking, and is equipped with first aid and fire fighting equipment (not that you’ll need it!). Whether you’re working on something new, or just want to come and practice, we’ve got you covered!

What’s Included?
Rental includes use of torch and some bench space, but does not cover sole use of the studio, and other renters or Laura may be working there too. If you require sole studio rental, please get in touch!
Use of 1 Nortel mid range minor top torch supplied by 15 litre oxy-con and propane, shared used of smith’s little torch.
Use of didymium safety glasses, kevlar sleeves.
An extenstive range of handtools.
A small kiln firing to anneal your work (20cm x 20cm x 20cm maxiumum size)
Use of glass rod scap box, perfect for new lampworkers who haven’t bought their own glass yet.
Use of coldworking equipment (25cm flatbed grinder with disks from 80 grit to cerium polish, linisher, diamond lathe, and diamond trim saw). Please note you must either have prior, appropriate experience with coldworking or book tuition time with Laura to be inducted in these facilities before use.
Extras and Materials
Once you are set up and lampworking often, you can either order and supply your own glass seperately, or buy from the studio stock which includes boro tube and rod, as well as a small supply of Effetre soft glass rod.
If you’re working on something bigger, and require the larger kiln to anneal (Maximum dimensions 750mm (w) × 520mm (d) × 230mm (h)). This is priced at £25 per standard annealing firing. It is also suitable for glass fusing and slumping, which will be priced accordingly. Please get in contact, or chat to Laura during your rental if you require use of the large kiln.
Receiving Your Finished Pieces
If you choose to have your glass creations annealed, you can either pick them up yourself from the studio from as early as the next day, or choose to have them shipped to you (£12 per medium box, DPD mainland shipping). Please note that after adding your hours to the basket, and proceeding to checkout, a £12 shipping fee will appear automatically, but you can choose “Store Pick Up” in the shipping options if you wish to pick up from the studio for free.
Cancellation & Adjustment Policy
Cancellations
Bookings are confirmed upon full receipt of payment. Cancellations must be made at least 14 days in advance. If bookings are cancelled in less than 14 days, the cost is non-refundable.
Rental Hours Adjustments
Once bookings are paid and confirmed, renters will be able to adjust their booked hours (within reason ie. not changing to less than 4 hours) 14 days before the rental. If it is within 14 days, then any unused rental time cannot be refunded or rescheduled. This is to allow for planning studio rental and lesson bookings. If you need to leave early, or start later during your booking, that is no problem, but the time cannot be refunded or rescheduled.
